Google Launches Three Gemini Models, Delays Pro

Google DeepMind released three new Gemini models: Gemini 3.6 Flash, a cheaper and more capable workhorse model; Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, the most cost-effective option; and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a cybersecurity-focused model available only to governments and trusted partners. The releases target AI agent developers prioritizing efficiency, speed, and reliability. Notably absent was the long-awaited Gemini 3.5 Pro update, last updated in February, as Google reportedly struggles to meet internal performance goals. Rivals OpenAI and Anthropic have launched multiple flagship models in the interim. Google's product lead confirmed Pro testing is underway and noted the team has begun its most ambitious Gemini 4 pre-training run yet.
