Google Launches Lightweight AI Cybersecurity Model
Google has introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a lightweight AI model fine-tuned to find, validate, and patch software vulnerabilities faster and more cost-efficiently than larger cybersecurity models. Built on Gemini 3.5 Flash, it outperforms mainline Flash models on key benchmarks and is already scanning Google's internal codebases including Chrome, Android, and YouTube.
Due to its dual-use potential, the model will initially be available only to governments and trusted partners through a limited-access pilot via CodeMender. Google says the approach gives defenders a head start in fixing critical vulnerabilities before they can be exploited, while reducing the risk of broader misuse.
