Google Launches AI Design App to Rival Canva
Google unveiled Pics at its annual I/O event, a new AI-powered design app built into Google Workspace. Aimed at everyday users like teachers and small business owners, it lets anyone create social media graphics, invitations, and marketing materials using simple text prompts.
Powered by Gemini and Nano Banana 2, Pics allows users to edit generated images by clicking specific elements and leaving comments, similar to Google Docs. The app launches to testers now and rolls out to Google AI Ultra subscribers this summer, putting Google in direct competition with Canva and Anthropic's Claude Design.
