Google launches agentic Gemini AI for businesses first
Google announced a unified agentic version of Gemini at a Google Cloud event, capable of completing tasks on users' behalf rather than just answering questions. The agent accepts objectives, plans work, uses custom tools, and connects to business systems including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, and others. It has its own Workspace account, email address, and maintains an audit trail. Users can monitor progress via a tasks inbox. Google will roll it out to businesses first, citing Gemini's 1 billion monthly users and adoption by nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies, before expanding to consumers.
