Google, Idris Elba Fund AI Tools for African Creators

Google and Idris Elba's Elba Hope Foundation are jointly funding access to AI tools, including Google's Gemini assistant, for 100,000 creators across Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, and Sierra Leone. The initiative is valued at approximately $1 million and aims to help creators produce high-quality content without large studio budgets. Elba is positioning himself as a major investor in Africa's creative economy, with plans for physical studios in Ghana and Zanzibar. Africa's media and entertainment market, currently worth $93 billion, is projected to reach $118 billion by 2031.
