Google is updating its AI Overview search feature to include excerpts from web forums, blogs, and social media, along with creator names and community handles to help users evaluate sources. The update also highlights links from users' news subscriptions. The move raises questions about AI Overviews' core purpose, blurring the line between AI-generated answers and traditional search results. Google's AI Overviews are accurate roughly 90 percent of the time, but given the volume of searches processed, that still means hundreds of thousands of inaccurate results per minute.
