Ghana Launches AI Strategy, Pledges $250M Centre
President John Mahama has launched Ghana's National AI Strategy covering 2025 to 2035, announcing a $250 million investment to establish a world-class AI Computing Centre. An additional $20 million will support short- to medium-term implementation of the strategy, which aims to position Ghana as a leading AI hub in West Africa and across the continent.
The strategy envisions AI embedded across education, with coding, robotics and AI to be introduced at basic school level by end of June. Mahama stressed the need for strong infrastructure and partnerships among government, academia, industry and development partners to build a thriving AI ecosystem that includes vulnerable groups and women.
