Generalist AI Raises $400M for Robotics Intelligence
AI startup Generalist AI has raised $400 million in a funding round led by Radical Ventures, valuing the company at $2 billion. Investors include 8VC, Union Square Ventures, Hanabi Capital, Nvidia NVentures and Bezos Expeditions. The company was founded by former DeepMind scientist Pete Florence, alongside Chief Scientist Andy Zeng and Boston Dynamics veteran Andrew Barry. The startup recently released GEN-1, a foundation model for robot learning that outperforms rivals like Physical Intelligence's pi-0. GEN-1 enables robots to adapt in real time to unpredictable physical conditions, such as shifting objects or changing lighting, mimicking human-like adjustment and retry behavior in industrial and warehouse settings.
