Google is testing a new feature called Call for Me, allowing its Gemini AI to make phone calls to businesses on users' behalf. Initially limited to Pixel 11 owners with a Gemini subscription in the U.S., the feature requires the beta version of Google's Phone app. Gemini can handle tasks like making reservations, checking product availability, and rescheduling appointments. It navigates phone menus, waits on hold, and conducts conversations while users monitor a live transcript and can take over at any time. Google is launching the experiment at small scale, citing the nuanced nature of real-world conversations.
