Ex-Google Execs Raise $36M to Fight AI Phishing
AegisAI, founded by former Google security executives behind safe browsing and reCAPTCHA, has raised a $36 million Series A led by Battery Ventures, bringing total funding to $49 million. The startup uses AI agents to detect sophisticated spear phishing attacks that traditional rule-based systems miss.
As hackers increasingly use AI to craft highly personalized emails, AegisAI's technology analyzes messages the way a human would, catching subtle anomalies including malicious PDFs disguised with passwords and CAPTCHAs. Launched less than a year ago, the startup already counts crypto firm Mesh and AI company LangChain among its customers.
