Databricks Buys AI Cyberattack Detector Panther Labs

Databricks has announced plans to acquire Panther Labs, an AI-powered cyberattack detection startup last valued at $1.4 billion in 2021. Financial terms were not disclosed. Panther's platform filters telemetry noise to reduce costs, organizes breach data for analysis, and uses AI to help security teams create and refine threat detections. The acquisition expands Databricks' Lakewatch cybersecurity product, with Panther's technology set to accelerate breach remediation workflows. This marks Databricks' third cybersecurity acquisition this year, following purchases of data encryption firm Antimatter and breach remediation platform SiftD.
