CuspAI Raises $450M, Valued at $2.6B
UK-based AI materials science startup CuspAI has raised $450 million in a Series B round led by Kleiner Perkins and NEA, with backing from Bezos Expeditions and others, valuing the company at $2.6 billion. The funding coincides with the launch of the AI Materials Foundry, a 45-member research consortium including Nvidia, Samsung, and Meta.
CuspAI's platform, MIRA, uses AI to accelerate material discovery, compressing years of research into six months. The system combines Meta's open-source UMA models with CuspAI's own kUPS toolkit to simulate compounds at atomic and molecular levels. The company plans to use the funds to expand internationally.
