Cloudflare Tracks Every AI Request by Identity

Cloudflare has launched Identity-Aware AI Gateway, a service that ties a verified identity to every AI request leaving a company network. IT and security teams can now see exactly which employee or automated system sent a prompt, set individual spending limits, and automatically filter sensitive data before it reaches outside AI providers. The service integrates with Cloudflare Access, replacing shared API keys with authenticated identities validated against existing zero-trust setups. A companion feature, AI Spend, learns normal usage patterns and alerts teams to anomalies, including cases where staff use expensive models for simple tasks. Freight logistics firm Flexport is already using the system.
