Cloudflare Launches AI-Native CMS to Rival WordPress
Cloudflare has unveiled EmDash, an open-source CMS built as a modern alternative to WordPress, which powers roughly 40% of the internet but was built over two decades ago. EmDash uses TypeScript, runs on edge-distributed infrastructure, sandboxes plugins to limit security vulnerabilities, and features passkey-based authentication with no passwords. The platform is designed to be managed by AI agents for tasks like content migration and schema changes, with a built-in Model Context Protocol server enabling programmatic administration. While experts say mass WordPress migration is unlikely, EmDash signals where the CMS market is heading and raises the bar for competitors. It is available now on GitHub under an MIT license.
