Claude Code Users Must Pay Extra for OpenClaw
Anthropic is cutting off Claude Code subscribers from using their subscription limits with OpenClaw and other third-party tools starting April 4. Users must now pay separately through a pay-as-you-go option, with Anthropic citing unsustainable usage patterns.
The move drew criticism from OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger, who recently joined OpenAI, accusing Anthropic of copying features then locking out open source tools. Anthropic's Boris Cherny defended the decision as an engineering constraint, noting the company is offering full refunds to affected subscribers.
