ChatGPT Voice Now Controls Your Desktop Computer
OpenAI has updated its ChatGPT desktop app to support ChatGPT Voice, powered by its new GPT-Live model family. Users can now speak complex, multi-step commands to control AI agents, browse websites, and perform tasks across apps. On macOS, the Appshots feature lets the app read screen content including alt-text.
Unlike the smartphone version, the desktop update is built for action, letting users direct agents in ChatGPT Work and Codex simultaneously. A demo showed a developer using one voice command to create a thread, make a pull request, and debug code. Competitor Anthropic has also expanded voice capabilities for its Claude assistant.
