ChatGPT Finally Lands on Linux Desktops
OpenAI has launched a dedicated ChatGPT desktop app for Linux, one of its most-requested platforms. The preview release supports Ubuntu 24.04 and 26.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora 43 and 44, covering major distributions and their downstream variants. The app includes access to ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex.
The move completes ChatGPT's presence across all major desktop operating systems. OpenAI arrives roughly a month behind rival Anthropic, which released a Claude desktop app for Linux supporting Ubuntu 22.04 or later and Debian 12 or later.
