ChatGPT Can Now Talk And Listen Simultaneously

OpenAI has launched GPT-Live, a full-duplex voice model that lets ChatGPT listen and speak at the same time, eliminating the turn-based cadence of previous voice systems. The model continuously processes audio, drops in natural acknowledgments, handles interruptions, and offloads complex queries to GPT-5.1 in the background. GPT-Live-1 is now the default for Plus, Pro, and Go subscribers on iOS, Android, and web, while free users receive a mini version. Safety features were rebuilt for real-time voice, including crisis helpline support, parental controls, and live content moderation. Video and screen sharing support are planned for a future update.
