Baseten Partners With Hugging Face on Open AI Safety

Baseten launched a safety infrastructure standard through its Base Labs research arm, partnering with Hugging Face and Goodfire AI to build evaluation and monitoring tools for open-weight AI models. The move comes as abliteration, a technique that strips safety guardrails from models, grows in use — with over 6,000 abliterated models currently hosted on Hugging Face. Baseten is framing the initiative as a transparent safety standard built into model training and deployment rather than added afterward. The company has issued an open call for developer contributions, while partners Goodfire AI and Hugging Face bring interpretability expertise and model hosting infrastructure to the effort.
