Apple Intelligence Launches in China via Alibaba Deal
China's Cyberspace Administration of China has approved Apple Intelligence for launch in the country, powered by Alibaba's Qwen AI model. The integration will span iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS, covering text and image understanding and generation.
The approval ends delays that kept Apple Intelligence out of China since its 2024 debut. Apple previously explored deals with Baidu, DeepSeek, and ByteDance before settling on Alibaba. China is a critical market for Apple, with Greater China sales hitting $20.5 billion last quarter. Alibaba shares surged over 6% on the news.
