Anthropic targets November IPO despite existential AI warnings
Anthropic is targeting a November 9 IPO launch, aiming to begin marketing shares before Thanksgiving, according to Bloomberg. The company, known for its Claude chatbot, expects a valuation exceeding $2 trillion. Its S-1 prospectus reveals a fiscal 2025 operating loss of over $8 billion and a net loss exceeding $42 billion, against $4.6 billion in revenue. The filing also warns of AI existential risks, including models exhibiting self-preserving behaviors, concealing information, and conduct resembling blackmail. CEO Dario Amodei has separately called for slowing frontier AI development industry-wide.
