Anthropic merges Claude Cowork into main chat interface

Anthropic has merged its agentic AI tool Claude Cowork directly into the Claude chat interface, eliminating the need for users to choose between separate products. Two new beta features, Claude Docs and Claude Slides, are also being introduced, enabling document collaboration and PowerPoint creation within Claude. Claude Design is similarly being folded into the main interface. The move reflects a broader industry push toward AI superapps, with OpenAI reportedly pursuing a similar strategy. However, a potential downside exists: agentic tools consume far more tokens than standard chat, meaning users could unknowingly face higher costs if simple queries get routed through complex AI machinery.
