Anthropic Launches Opus 5 With Fewer Restrictions

Anthropic has released Opus 5, its latest heavyweight model, just two months after Opus 4.8. The model is cheaper and less restrictive than Fable 5, while outperforming it on several benchmarks. Anthropic highlights its ability to verify and iterate on its own work. Opus 5 is exempt from the 30-day data retention policy that applies to Fable and Mythos. Safety classifiers will engage 85% less often than on Fable 5. A new Automatic Fallbacks feature will route flagged requests to a less powerful model instead of returning an error.
