Anthropic Launches Cyber Program for Critical Infrastructure

Anthropic has launched the Anthropic Cyber Mission, comprising two initiatives: the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program and OSS Scanner. The defense program pairs Anthropic's frontier models and engineers with eleven founding partners, including Accenture, CrowdStrike, Dragos, and Rockwell Automation, to address security vulnerabilities in power grids, water systems, and industrial plants. OSS Scanner offers open-source projects free automated vulnerability scans, drawing on a backlog of over 29,000 candidate vulnerabilities found in the past six months. Reports go directly to maintainers without human review for speed, though Anthropic acknowledges some may contain errors. The Defender Advantage Fund keeps the scanner free.
