Anthropic Launches Claude Sonnet 5.5, 30% Faster

Anthropic has launched Claude Sonnet 5.5, its mid-tier AI model, priced the same as its predecessor at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, but running over 30% faster and requiring fewer tokens for equivalent work, making it effectively 30% cheaper. The model excels at document generation, summarization, coding, and UI design. It includes invisible text watermarking for regulatory compliance. On Terminal-Bench 4.0, it scored 70.6% versus the prior model's 10.3%. Zendesk reported 20% faster ticket processing in testing. Haiku 5.5 is planned for release in coming weeks.
