Anthropic Eyes Samsung Partnership for Custom AI Chip

Anthropic is in early-stage talks with Samsung Electronics to manufacture a custom AI chip, according to The Information. Key details such as target workloads and performance specifications have not yet been finalized. Samsung's manufacturing options include a four-nanometer node and an upcoming two-nanometer SF2P process optimized for data center chips. The move follows OpenAI's recent debut of its Jalapeño inference chip, built with Broadcom. Anthropic says it will continue using chips from AWS, Nvidia, and Google alongside any custom silicon. The company is also pursuing a $50 billion US data center initiative in partnership with Fluidstack.
