Anthropic Buys Medical AI Startup for $400M+

Anthropic has reportedly acquired Coefficient Bio, an eight-month-old medical AI startup, for over $400 million in stock. The deal was revealed in a letter from healthcare venture capital firm Dimension, which owned half of Coefficient's stock. Coefficient, founded by former pharmaceutical executives and researchers, developed AI models optimized for biology research. The acquisition marks Anthropic's third buyout in six months and deepens its push into healthcare AI, following recent Claude updates adding clinical database integrations and a new science-focused blog.
