Anthropic Brings Rupee Pricing to India's Claude Users

Anthropic has begun localizing Claude's pricing in India, its second-largest market accounting for 5.8% of global usage. Rupee-denominated plans have appeared for some users, with Claude Pro listed at ₹2,000 per month annually, though payments via India's popular UPI network are not yet supported. The move reflects Anthropic's broader India push, which includes a Bengaluru office, local leadership, and partnerships with Infosys and TCS. However, converting India's large user base into paying subscribers remains a challenge in the price-sensitive market, where rival OpenAI already offers UPI support for ChatGPT.
