Anthropic Blindsided by Confusing AI Export Rules

Anthropic spent much of the week scrambling to restore access to its newest AI models after the Trump administration abruptly ordered the company to cut off all foreign nationals, including users inside the US and its own employees. The sudden directive forced Anthropic to block access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for everyone, leaving the company and its users blindsided by export rules that even those enforcing them struggle to clearly define.
