Anthropic Acquires SDK Startup Away From Rivals
Anthropic has acquired Stainless, a developer tools startup founded by former Stripe engineer Alex Rattray, in a deal reported to be worth over $300 million. The New York-based company, backed by Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, was previously used by OpenAI, Google, Cloudflare, and others to automate the creation and maintenance of software development kits. Anthropic will wind down all hosted Stainless products, including its SDK generator, effectively cutting off competitors from the tool. Existing customers retain full rights to SDKs already generated. Stainless software has powered every official Anthropic SDK since the company launched its API.
