AI Engineer Transforms 3,000 Stores' Energy Efficiency

Sajid Khanpuri, team manager at BrainBox AI within Trane Technologies, has helped deploy AI-powered energy optimization across nearly 3,000 Dollar Tree stores. Growing up in Zambia, where power shortages shaped his worldview, he pursued mechanical engineering and HVAC expertise before joining BrainBox AI in 2021. His Client Performance Services team built monitoring systems to track and improve HVAC performance across the massive retail portfolio. The project has delivered nearly 8 million kilowatt hours in energy savings, reduced 5,632 tons of carbon emissions, and generated over $1 million in cost savings.
