a16z Launches $1.1B AI Infrastructure Fund
Andreessen Horowitz has raised a $1.1 billion fund called the Machine Age Fund to invest in AI infrastructure startups. Target areas include data center chips, memory, networking gear, edge AI hardware, smart home appliances, and robotics. The fund expands the firm's existing AI investment portfolio, which includes data center transformer maker Heron Power, data center builder Volta Infrastructure, and chipmaker Unconventional Inc. Andreessen Horowitz joins Kleiner Perkins and Thrive Capital in recently ramping up AI-focused investment vehicles.
